Birkat HaMazon, reading of Shema and Passover Haggadah with illustrations and a Yiddish commentary. Jassy: Zalmina Feigeles, Nata Wasserman and Yisrael Avraham Segal, [1843]. Especially rare edition.
Collection of prayers for various occasions, containing Birkat HaMazon and blessings recited after meals, the bedtime reading of Shema, Tikkunei Shabbat and songs for Shabbat eve, daytime and Motzaei Shabbat, Chanukah candle-lighting, kiddush for festivals, order of searching for chametz and Passover Haggadah, with illustrations. The bottom of the pages contains a Yiddish translation and commentary.
At the bottom of the title page, next to the word "Yas" (Jassy, where the book was printed), the printer Yisrael Avraham Segal added his name (in minute letters), using the printed letters of "Yas" as his initials.
On verso of title page is printed a censor's approval in Romanian (in Hebrew letters), dated 1843.
[47] leaves. Approx. 23 cm. Good condition. Stains (many stains to several leaves of Haggadah). Small marginal tears to several leaves. Close trimming, affecting text and illustrations in several places. New binding.
Rare edition. This Haggadah is not documented in Yaari or in Otzar HaHaggadot.
Listed in the Bibliography of the Hebrew Book project based on a photocopy of the title page from a private collection. Does not appear in the NLI catalogue.
