Single leaves from the Babylonian Talmud, Venice edition. Leaves 8, 10-13, 15, 66-72 from Masechet Nidda; leaves 124-125 from the Maimonides commentary on the Mishna at the end of Pesachim [Venice, 1520]. Daniel Bomberg print.
Between the years 1520-1524, Bomberg printed a full edition of the Babylonian Talmud. This was the first edition to include the entire Talmud. This is the edition which introduced the format used until this very day, with the words of the Talmud in the center of the page, Rashi on the inner side and Tosfot on the outer side. The numbering in this edition became the accepted numbering in most of the editions of the Talmud that followed, and in all citations according to page (Daf). [According to Rabinowitz, Pesachim was the first tractate printed this way].
A total of 15 leaves, about 32 cm. Fair-poor condition, stains, damaged edges and damaged text.
