Letters and Postcards Collection – Hungary, 1939-1941

Opening: $200
Unsold
40 letters with envelopes / postcards sent to Vago Lajos, 1939-1941.
The letters were sent to Lajos by his family (mostly his wife and children) whilst he was detained in two separate jails in Budapest.
From the gist of the letters, it appears to be a Jewish family (subjects mentioned: Jewish New Year greetings, Herzl's book and more) and they were working to arrange his release. The letters and envelopes bear the prisons' censor stamp.
A visa from 1966, made out in the name of Vago Janos (son of Lajos) for entry to Hungary, is attached.
Varying sizes. Slightly stained.
