Shalom Ben-Chorin (1913-1999), writer, poet and journalist. Among the leaders of “The Movement for Progressive Judaism” (The Reform movement).
1. A new custom for Seder night (proposal). Draft for an article, addressed to the “HaOlam” editorial. Jerusalem, March 1949. In the article, Ben-Chorin suggests changing the karpas on the Seder plate to mallow, in memory of those who fought in the War of Independence and the days of siege on Jerusalem, during which time the mallow was considered by the people of Jerusalem “as manna was to our fathers in the desert: grain from heaven.”
Four handwritten leaves, with many repairs and erasures, 26 cm. Very good condition. Filing holes. Creased.
