Amarot Tehorot on Tehillim, by R. Eliezer Ish Horowitz. [Warsaw, 1838]. The first Chassidic commentary printed on Tehillim.
False imprint for 1807. Place of printing and name of printer omitted from the title page.
R. Eliezer Ish Horowitz Rabbi of Tarnogród (d. 1806), a holy and eminent Torah scholar. Descendant of the Shelah, disciple of R. Yechiel Michel of Zlotchov and R. Elimelech of Lizhensk, and disciple-colleague of the Chozeh of Lublin and the Maggid of Kozhnitz. He died and was buried in Kozhnitz, after visiting the city and stating: "This city is fit for burial".
[2], 3-4, 1-2, 5-67; 58 leaves. Lacking final leaf. Leaves 3-4 of first sequence bound out of order. 21 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains, including dark stains. Minor wear. Worming, affecting text, repaired with paper. Open tears, including open tears to title page, affecting border and text on verso, repaired with paper (and photocopy replacement of parts of border). Margins trimmed with damage to text in a few places. Stamp. Handwritten inscriptions. New leather binding.
