Letter affirming receipt of donation to the Telz Yeshiva, Lithuania, signed by Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Bloch of Telz. 1934.
Rabbi Avraham Yitzchak Bloch (1890-1941) was third generation of Telz rashei yeshiva – he was the son of the "Shiurei Da'at" Rabbi Yosef Leib Bloch, and grandson of Rabbi Eliezer Gordon, the yeshiva's founder. Since his youth, he was known as a prodigy of great talent, with true "Telz" depth. At the age of 30 [!], in 1921, he was appointed Rosh Yeshiva – while his father was yet alive. When his father died in 1930, he was also appointed as Rabbi of the city. When the Nazis conquered Lithuania in 1941, he was killed together with hundreds of the yeshiva's students, and most of his family and community.
Some of his novellae were published in the book "Chidushei Rabeinu Hagrai MiTelz".
28 cm. Official stationery in Hebrew, English and Lithuanian, typewritten and with his signature. Very good condition, folding marks and slightly torn margins.
