Manuscript, Otzerot Chaim by R. Chaim Vital – the Maharchu. [Europe, ca. 18th century].
Neat Ashkenazic script. Title page with a decorative, foliate and grape motif border.
The scribe who created this manuscript included numerous glosses in "windows", in smaller script, neatly separated from the main text. These contain the copied glosses of R. Natan Shapiro Yerushalmi, R. Moshe Zacuto (Kol HaRemez) and R. Binyamin HaKohen – the Rabach. There are also several marginal glosses from a different writer. Some of these glosses are signed "רא"מ". One gloss signed "Yitzchak" (we were unable to establish the identities of the authors of these glosses).
Otzerot Chaim is one of R. Chaim Vital's fundamental compositions of the teachings of the Arizal, arranged by the kabbalist R. Yaakov Tzemach. The book was first printed in Korets, 1783.
[120] leaves. 21 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and wear. Final leaves detached. Old binding. Back cover detached, without spine.
