Three lithographic advertisements for "Jaffa" oranges. Palestine and Britain, [ca. 1930s]. English and Romanian.
1. Cele mai bune portocale de Jaffa, Regina Maria [Queen Marie, the best oranges of Jaffa], advertisement for "Jaffa" oranges. Jerusalem: Graphica printing press. Romanian. Design: Ze'ev Raban. Signed in the plate: "Gur-Arieh / Raban 'Bezalel'". Illustration of Queen Marie of Edinburgh (Marie of Romania) (1875-1938) standing in a port on the background of ship with orange crates approaching the port.
25x34 cm. Good condition. Pen writing on verso (the name of the designer, Ze'ev Raban).
2. "The Jaffa Orange Syndicate LTD, Tel-Aviv, Palestine", advertisement for the "Jaffa" oranges issued by the Lord Company of Britain. English. Design: Franz Krausz. Signed in the plate: "Krausz / Jacobsohn".
Printed on the back is an advertisement of the British fruit company Goodwin Simons.
Approx. 22.5x29.5cm. Good condition. Tears and minor blemishes. A tear reinforced with tape to the edge. The bottom margin of the leaf was trimmed (the details of the advertisers Friedman/Khagan are missing).
3. "Keep Smiling Brand, Choice Jaffa Oranges", advertisement for "Jaffa" oranges. Waddie and Co. LTD press. Edinburgh and London. English.
Approx. 22x29 cm. Good condition. Stains and minor blemishes at the edges. Trimmed right margin (slightly affecting the print).
