Advertisement poster for 1949 Passover issue of "Ha'aretz" newspaper. The first in a series of articles "For one month I have been a new immigrant" by Aryeh Gelblum was published in this issue. Gelblum (1921-1993) pretended to be an "Oleh Chadash" in order to experience the absorption of new immigrants in the young state. In a series of articles which he published following his experience he attacked the oriental Jews and in particular those of Morocco, their culture and customs. Gelblum called to stop the immigration of North African Jews since they might cause "Levantization of the country". Gelblum's words aroused a public polemic. 47X63 cm. Good condition.
