Sendschreiben an Seine Hochwֳ¼rden Herrn Oberconsistorialrath und Probst Teller [Missive to His Highness Mr. Teller]. Berlin, 1799. Bound with: Beantwortung des an Herrn Probst Teller, reply by Wilhelm Abraham Teller. Berlin, 1799.
The first composition was written anonymously by David Friedlander of Berlin (1750-1834), one of the leaders of the Reform Movement in Germany, and was sent as a missive to the Head of the Church in Berlin, the Protestant Priest Wilhelm Abraham Teller, on behalf of "several Jewish households." Friedlander suggested in this letter that some heads of Jewish families will convert to Christianity on condition that they are allowed to live according to Deistic views, and not be obliged to hold certain Christian views. Attached is a copy of this composition with a foreword by Yerachmiel Cohen, translated into Hebrew by Miriam Dinur (Zalman Shazar Center, Jerusalem, 1976). [2], 86; 64 pp. 19.5 cm. Good condition, stains. Non-original binding.
