A topographic model of the Old City of Jerusalem and the vicinity - colored plaster relief, with titles added by hand. The model is housed in an original box made of olive wood. Printed on the lid of the box is the inscription "Jerusalem" (English and Hebrew).
Box: 16.5X18 cm. Height: 5.5 cm. Good condition. Defects to wood (several breaks and missing pieces at corners of box). Slight defects to margins of relief. Stains to paper label in the box. Lacking screw from one of the hinges.

The album contains seventeen prints of sites in Palestine (the Western Wall, the Mount of Olives, the Church of the Holy Sepulchre, Jaffa Port, Bethlehem, Hebron, Haifa Bay and other sites), and seventeen pressed flower arrangements, mounted on facing pages.
Printed on the bottom margins of each print is the name of the site (in French). Some also bear the inscription: T. R. Dumas Et Fils Editeurs, Beyrouth (Syrie) [Tancrède Dumas?].
The album is bound in a fine olive wood binding with a leather spine. Carved on the front of the binding is a Jerusalem cross inside a colorful frame made with very delicate inlay work. Printed on the back binding is the inscription "Jerusalem" in English and Hebrew, inside a frame identical to the one on the front binding.
Approx. 32X23.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains and defects (mostly to margins; the prints are clean). Small tears to margins. A few flowers and leaves are detached. Pen scribble on the margins of one of the leaves. Long tear to inner margins of front endpaper. Front binding detached, with a crack along its breadth. Album with pressed flowers from Palestine. Each spread portrays pressed flowers and plants, facing a color lithograph. The lithographs portray views of Tiberias, Jerusalem (including "University on Mount Scopus"), Haifa, Tel-Aviv, Jordan River and the Dead Sea. The pages are titled in Hebrew, English and French.
At the end of the album - an additional title page, "Flowers from the Holy Land" (in English, French and German), with the publisher's name - H. N. Schechter. Bound in an olive wood binding with a carved image of the Dome of the Rock, the title "Temple Mount" (Hebrew) and, on both sides, "Jerusalem" in Hebrew and English.
Yehiel Zvi Zimrinsky was born in Russia in 1859, grew up in Alexandria and when still young relocated to Palestine. Was an olive wood craftsman and a businessman. He opened a "workshop for all kinds of olive wood" in Jerusalem and was involved in the development of the Yishuv. Died in 1933 and was buried in the Mount of Olives cemetery.

Francis Frith (1822-1898), one of the most important early photographers of Palestine. In 1856 he sailed to Alexandria, and for nearly two years he went on photography journeys in Sinai and Palestine. Due to the local conditions, Frith had to carry the equipment on donkeys' backs from site to site, and develop the negatives right after he has taken the photographs, in tents which served as dark rooms. His works are considered the first professional photographs of Palestine.
Total of 148 photographs in eight volumes. Photographs - approx. 22.5X16 cm. Volumes - 43 cm. Fair-poor condition. Stains, creases and defects. Significant worming (the volumes were fumigated). "Souvenirs from the Orient", an album with one hundred and ten photographs from Palestine, Egypt, Syria, Greece and Turkey. The album contains 55 cardboard leaves; mounted on each leaf are two photographs, most of them titled by hand (in French). The album opens with an introduction in French by G. Charvet.
The album contains photographs of various sites in Jerusalem (Western Wall, Tower of David, Dome of the Rock, Gates of the Old City, and more), Jericho, Jaffa, Tiberias, Haifa, Cairo, Damascus, Alexandria, Athens and other towns, as well as photographs of the residents of the different towns in traditional garments (group of women in Jaffa, residents in Jerusalem, a woman from Bethlehem, Bedouins in Jericho, and more).
