Alexander Penn – Handwritten Poem

Opening: $180
Sold for: $525
Including buyer's premium
"Shikaron", a poem of five verses in handwriting of the poet Alexander Penn (1906-1972); signed. Probably rough draft for a three-verse poem also entitled "Shikaron", which he wrote in 1930. (See Volume I, page 92 of "The Poems", Alexander Penn).
As indicated by its name, the poem bears the character of a wine-poem, against the backdrop of the city Tel Aviv ("The city drowses like a cat…"). The cafés Chermon and Sheleg Levanon are mentioned in it.
Single page, 26.5x17.5 cm.
Good condition; creases and folding lines. The back has adheive tape for re-enforcement, as there are tears on the folding lines – not causing omission to text.
