Aharon Kahana, jug with two handles, painted and glazed ceramic. Signed: "Kahana".
Kahana (1905-1967), painter and artist born in Germany. Following the rise of the Nazis moved to Eretz Yisrael in 1934. His work was inspired by the "Canaanite Movement", by biblical motives and archaeological findings. "… this concept was derived from the ancient eastern art…but he gave it a new meaning, mainly decorative. This was emphasized in his ceramic works…" (Gabriel Talpir, "100 artists in Israel", page 60).
Height: 12 cm, base width: 19 cm. Very good condition, except for two chips to rim.

Eliezer Halivni, large cup with illustrations of donkeys, hand painted glazed ceramic. Signed on bottom: "E. Halivni Ramat Yochanan" (blurred signature).
Eliezer Halivni (1901-1984), member of Kibbutz Beit Alfa and later member of Kibbutz Ramat Yochanan.While dwelling in Emek Yizrael he encountered Bedouins and was exposed to the Arab folklore and to the orient; was inspired by the discovery of the mosaic floor of the ancient synagogue in Beit Alfa. Integrated in his work the local, oriental culture, as can be well noticed in this cup.
Height: 17 cm, maximal width: 16 cm. Very good condition.
