The title of the book is derived from the name "brownshirts" as the Sturmabteilung troops were often called "brownshirts" for the color of their uniforms. Yiddish, with photographs.

Membership cards of a Jewish cultural organization, established in 1933 by Kurt Baumann, following forbidding Jewish cultural activities in Nazi Germany. The organization, centered in Berlin, encompassed 50,000 members in one hundred cities in Germany and created a rich and varied cultural activity.

Collection of letters (about 200), sent to Norbert ("Nuri") Nachum Miler, 1938-1939.
1. Letters sent to Miler by his parents and two sisters, after he came as an Oleh to Eretz Yisrael. It seems from the letters that Miler spent time in "Hachsharah" (training) and probably lived in Jerusalem. It is possible that he was a kibbutz member, the name of which is not mentioned. From the contents of the letters it is understood that the family was an observant family. The letters reflect the longing to leave Austria, emigrate to Eretz Yisrael or join relatives in the U.S.A. It is also mentioned that the father was arrested in a concentration camp in Austria but was released after a few weeks.
2. Letters sent to Miler by family relatives, who immigrated from Austria to the United States in 1938. The letters tell that they are trying to achieve documents for Miler's parents who live in Vienna. Most letters are in German, a few in English, two in Hebrew.
