The book aroused a great controversy, since the author didn't hesitate to use sharp language when disagreeing with the Beit Yosef and other leading Acharonim. The book was banned by the rabbis of Egypt, yet on the other hand endorsed by other prominent rabbis.
Signature on the title page of R. Yehuda Mendola (d. 1752), rabbi in Padua, Rovigo and Mantua in the first half of the 18th century. Disciple-colleague of the Ramchal and one of his supporters.

Copies of R. Akiva Eger, with scholarly glosses handwritten by him. Vol. II contains a lengthy gloss in R. Akiva Eger's handwriting (46 words; cursive) on leaf 1 of the second sequence. Vol. I contains a scholarly gloss (34 words, square script) handwritten by R. Akiva Eger on p. 76b (gloss slightly trimmed, with an ink stain affecting three words of the gloss).
To the best of our knowledge, these glosses were never published.
Stamps of his son R. Yitzchak Leib Eger of Johannisburg (in German) in both volumes. The endpaper of vol. II contains several ownership inscriptions by the disciples of R. Akiva Eger, attesting that the book belongs to their teacher.

Rebbe Pinchas Hager received the present set of Shulchan Aruch HaRav during his engagement, from his father-in-law and uncle, Rebbe Shmuel Rokeach Rabbi of Skohl (Sokal), as his brother Rebbe Shraga Feivish Hager of Zalishchik attests in his handwritten ownership inscription on the back endpaper of vol. IV.
