R. Shlomo of Chelm (1716-1781), a prominent Polish Torah scholar. He was appointed rabbi of Chelm as a young man, yet served even before that as posek in Tishovitz, as he mentions in one of his responsa. His magnum opus, Mirkevet HaMishneh on Mishneh Torah by the Rambam, earned him renown as a leading Torah scholar of his times.

Vol. I contains a scholarly gloss (34 words, square script) handwritten by R. Akiva Eger on p. 76b (gloss slightly trimmed, with an ink stain affecting three words of the gloss).
To the best of our knowledge, these glosses were never published.
Stamps of his son R. Yitzchak Leib Eger of Johannisburg (in German) in both volumes. The endpaper of vol. II contains several ownership inscriptions by the disciples of R. Akiva Eger, attesting that the book belongs to their teacher.
