Two title-pages. In margin of first one there is a handwritten signed dedication by the author: "Presented to my friend Reb Elimelech ben Porat. K-". On the side of the title-page there is another handwriting which says: "From Rabbi Kalonimus Kalmish Shapira Warsaw Dzielna Street 5/5". The receiver's ink-stamp is on the title-pages: "Tushia Book Factory E. Ben-Porat, Jerusalem".
Rabbi Kalonimus Kalmish Shapira (1889-1944) was author of "Chovat Hatalmidim" and "Esh Kodesh". He was the son of Rabbi Elimelech Shapira. He was an outstanding genius in all parts of Torah and disseminated Torah and Chasidut. In 1913 he became Rav of Piaszina.

Handwritten dedication by Rabbi Arye Leib Breslau on inner side of front cover, written in Rotterdam in 1784. The book was presented to Rabbi Yitzchak ben Chaim Hacohen of Amsterdam in honor of his wedding.
Rabbi Arye Leib Breslau (1741-1809) was rabbi in Emden, Holland and later in Rotterdam. He wrote the book "P'nei Arye", was the son of the "P'nei Yehoshua" and brother-in-law of the Ya'avetz.

Signatures and inscriptions of owners. Above the title-page there is a nice dedication, in the handwriting of the author, to Rabbi Ze'ev Wolf Openheim.
Rabbi Yehuda Leib Margaliot (1747-1811, Otzar haRabbanim 7348) was one of the leading rabbis in his generation. At the age of 18, he received rabbinic ordination from the Noda Biyehuda. In Aliyot Eliyahu, Note 77, there is a description of his visit by the Vilna Ga'on. He served in the rabbinate of many cities, the last of which were Lesla and Frankfurt de-Oder.

Rabbi Chaim Chizkiyahu Medini, (1833-1905) was born in Jerusalem, served as rabbi in Krim and Hebron; he was a tremendous scholar. He compiled the Torah Encyclopedia on his own, tens of volumes of S'deh Chemed, and other books.
The receiver was Rabbi Ya'akov Vilenchik (born 1852, Otzar Harabbanim 9604), author of Daltei Teshuva and Be'er Ya'akov.

On the back of the title page appears a dedication in the "Baba Sali"'s handwriting written in Morocco in 1957 (according to receiver's record).
On the same page the name and address in Jerusalem of the "Baba Sali" were written and were deleted by the holy with the same pen with which the dedication was written.
Rebbe Yisrael Abuchatzeira, the "Baba Sali", (1889-1984) son of Rabbi Mas'ud of Tafillat (Morocco), sone of Rebbe Ya'akov Abuchatzeira. Brilliant in the seen and in the hidden, holy and pure from his youth. Published the letter of his elder Rabbi Ya'akov. Served as chief Rabbi of Arpud and its vicinity. In 1950 he moved to Jerusalem and returned to Morocco in 1957 [where he presented the book in the province of Tafillat]. In 1964 he returned to Eretz Yisrael. He settled in Netivot. Distinguished people turned to him for advice and prayer. His grandchildren are the famous Abuchatzeira Rebbes.

Divrei Chaim, New York, Jerusalem, 1946. Special edition published by Rebbe Ya'akov Halberstam in honor of the 70th yahrzteit of his grandfather, Rebbe Ya'akov Halberstam of Sanz, author of the Divrei Chaim.
This edition was printed in New York, however, because of the special sanctity of Jerusalem, the Rebbe had the title-page and another page reprinted in Jerusalem. He removed the original title-page from each copy and inserted the two Jerusalem pages instead. (Regarding this, see the bibliographer Naftali Ben Menachem's article, Sinai 30, 1954, page 154).
On page before title-page appears impressive dedication (10 lines) from 1951, in handwriting and with signature of Rebbe Ya'akov Halberstam of Chakova-Sanz.
Rebbe Ya'akov Halberstam, son of Rebbe Sinai of Kaushitz and Zemigrad, son of Rebbe Baruch of Gerlitz, son of author of Divrei Chaim, was born in winter of 1896-7. He married the daughter of Rebbe Shalom of Shatz. Was given rabbinic ordination (s'micha) by Maharam Arik. Served from the year 1825 as Av Beit Din in Chakova. In 1942 he dreamt of the holocaust that would soon destroy European Jewry. He consequently left the rabbinate and came to Jerusalem, where he established Yeshivat Divrei Chaim – Chakova. During the holocaust years the Rebbe was in the US, where he was very active in thee Va'ad Hatzala Organization for rescuing European Jews. After the war he returned to Israel, later he returned to the US where he established his Beit Midrash in the East Side, New York. Died 1964.
As heads of his yeshiva in Jerusalem served his well-known sons Rabbi Moshe Halberstam zt"l, as well as Rebbe Naftali Halberstam shlita, Rebbe of Chakova and head of the Eda Hacharedit.

"With studies on being attached to scholars and friends, Hevron Yeshiva Knesset Yisrael by Yehezkel Sarna".
After the title page there is a dedication by the author "A souvenir from the visit to my home, with appreciation and blessings of the author". The owner's signature is "Rabbi Yehuda Dim".
Rabbi Yehezkel Sarna (1889-1969) was a leading member of the Mussar movement. He was a close disciple of the Rabbi N.Z. Finkel "the Slabodka Zaide" and a son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein Rosh Yeshiva of Knesset Yisrael in Slabodka. Rabbi Yehezkel Sarna (1889-1969) was a leading member of the Mussar movement. He was a close disciple of the Rabbi N.Z. Finkel "the Slabodka Zaide" and a son-in-law of Rabbi Moshe Mordechai Epstein Rosh Yeshiva of Knesset Yisrael in Slabodka.
