Grininke Beimelech [Greenish Trees], illustrated bi-weekly for children. Vilna, October 1926 – June 1927, 10 consecutive issues bound together.
Among the participants: Moshe Broderzon, Shlomo Bastamsky (who was the newspaper’s editor), Daniel Czarny, and others. “Grininke Beimelech” was the first Yiddish newspaper for children, which appeared consistently over many years in Poland, from 1914-1939, with two breaks in the middle. Yiddish.
23.5 cm. Fair condition. Tears on the margins of a number of pages. The cover of the first booklet is detached. Folder cover is loose and the spine is torn.

A textbook for learning Yiddish by the poet Eliezer Steinberg (1880-1932). The illustrations were done by artists who were members of the artistic division of Kultur Lige in Chernowitz. Most of the book's illustrations were done by Arthur Kolnik, and are a rare example of his early graphics. Additional illustrations are by Rubin Zelikovitch and Solomon Lerner.
