Bibliotheca universalis sive Catalogus omnium scriptorum locupletissimus, in tribus linguis, Latina, Graeca et Hebraica extantium & non extantium, veterum & recentiorum in hunc usque diem, doctorum & indoctorum, publicatorum & in bibliothecis latentium [Universal bibliography composed of all the compositions which were printed in Latin, Greek and Hebrew], by Conrad Gesner. Voluminous composition, fruit of the author's ambitious initiative to create the first such universal bibliography, which encompasses all books printed in Greek, Latin and Hebrew during the first hundred years following the invention of the printing press. The author, Conrad Gesner, began compiling this catalog at the age of 25 and for years, he visited numerous Italian and German libraries. After many years of research, he published the first edition of this composition in 1545.
This bibliography, which contains about 10,000 titles and 1800 names of various authors (according to alphabetical order), was the first comprehensive "universal" bibliography.

Two volumes. Vol. 1: XXV, [1], 587 pages. Vol. 2: [3], 590-1222 pages. Approximately 39 cm. Good condition. Light-colored high-quality paper. Stains. Contemporary handsome vellum bindings, with a gilt inscription on the spines. Minor damages to bindings.

Volume of catalogues and Hebrew booklists of the booksellers Schwager & Fränkel in Husiatyn. Mukacheve, 1902-1913.
Single volume containing 22 catalogues.
The bookstore "Dovev Sifsei Yeshenim" was established by Lipa Schwager in Husiatyn in 1902. In 1906 he entered into partnership with R. David Fränkel. The store specialized in ancient Hebrew texts, and published detailed catalogues on a variety of subjects. This collection includes catalogues dedicated to manuscripts, Passover Haggadot, Kabbalistic books, prayerbooks and others, from 1902 to 1913. After WWI the partnership was dissolved, and in 1919 Lipa Schwager reopened the store himself.
22 catalogues bound in a single volume. Catalogues no: 1-3, 5-8, 10-16, 18-19, 22-24, 27-28, 37. 24 cm. Condition varies. Several catalogues without wrappers. Dry, brittle paper. Many tears, especially to the margins.
