Synagoga Judaica [Jewish Synagogue], a research book on the topic of the Jewish religion, by the Hebraist Johannes Buxtorf (1564-1629). With 18 illustrations (engravings) incorporated in the text, depicting different customs of German Jews. In the beginning of the book is an illustration of a synagogue interior (double-spread engraving). Fine double-spread title page, printed in black and red ink.

Three works by Johann Leusden (1624-1699), a Dutch theologian and Hebraist and a professor of Hebrew at Utrecht University.
The three works are bound together.
1. Philologus Hebraeo-Mixtus, unà cum Spicilegio philologico, continente decem quaestionum & positionum praecipuè philologico-Hebraicarum & Judaicarum centurias. Utrecht: ex Officinâ Francisci Halma, 1682. Latin and some Hebrew.
Study in Hebrew philology, accompanied by fine engraved plates that depict, among other things, various Jewish customs: baking matzo bread, lighting the Sabbath candles, a Jewish wedding, and more. [14], 463, [9] pp + [9] engraved plates (title page and eight additional plates).
2. Hebrew translation of Daniel and Ezra / Sive Translatio Hebraica Omnium Textuum Chaldaicorum, qui in Daniele, Ezra & in Jeremia Inveniuntur. Leiden (Lugduni Batavorum), 1685. Hebrew and Latin.

First four volumes of the work "Religious Ceremonies and Customs of All the Peoples of the World", considered one of the central works on religion during the Enlightenment and including over 150 engravings by Bernard Picart. The work's first part is dedicated to the customs of the Jews and the Catholics, and features, among other things, engravings showing the inauguration of the Portuguese synagogue in Amsterdam, a Passover Seder, tefillin, a wedding ceremony, a circumcision ceremony, a Simchat Torah celebration, various ritual objects, and more.
Volumes 1-4. Probabaly missing two engravings. Approx. 39 cm. Condition varies. Good overall condition. Stains and creases. Small tears to margins (mostly to first and last leaves). Slight worming to two volumes. Bound in leather bindings (from the period), damaged and worn.

The endpapers are handwritten leaves apparently taken from a Latin Bible of the fifteenth or early sixteenth century.
