Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom, Yosef ben Ephraim, and the bride, Yocheved bat Yitzhak. Herat, Afghanistan, Heshvan 5649 [1888].
Frame decorated with vegetal motifs, lines and dots painted blue, green, yellow and orange.
At the top of the ketubah are five circles and additional decorations in silver ink. The text ends with a blessing customary among the Jews of Afghanistan: "May they have a long and fruitful life, in the name of Moses and Israel". At the bottom are the witnesses' signatures.
35X65.5 cm. Fair-good condition. Folding marks, creases and stains. Tears, with slight damage to text. Mounted on Bristol paper.

Ketubah recording the marriage of the groom, Yahuda ben Eliezer HaCohen, and the bride, Miriam bat Yitzhak Cohen. Yazd, Persia, Adar Bet, 5592 [1832].
Handwritten on blue paper. The blessings at the top are arranged in a triangle shape.
At the bottom is an addition written in Judeo-Persian in semi-cursive script, and the witnesses' signatures (including the signature of Rabbi Yitzhak son of Rabbi Moshe Or Shraga, one of the outstanding Torah scholars of Yazd).
On the reverse of the ketubah is a contract detailing the couple's property, from 1872, in the handwriting, signature and stamp of Rabbi Yosef Or Shraga (the rabbi of Yazd, a descendant of Rabbi Mullah Or Shraga), in Judeo-Persian.

Handwritten on paper and decorated with colorful decorations. Enclosed is a letter addressed to Lady Ezra [Rachel Ezra (Sassoon), wife of Rabbi David Ezra from India, daughter of Solomon David Sassoon and sister of the collector David Solomon Sassoon] indicating the ketubah belongs to David Cohen.
Approx. 27X42.5 cm. Poor condition. Many tears, with damage to text. Dampstains, with damage to text and illustrations. Enclosed are torn and damaged pieces of the upper ketubah illustrations.

Decorated and colorful marriage contract, in a style characteristic of similar Iranian marriage contracts of the period.
At the top of the document are two signatures in Hebrew: "Chakham Or" [probably a member of the family of Rabbi Or Shraga of Yazd] and "Tza'ir Moshe ben Eliyahu".
