Three large prints after paintings by Ludwig Blum. [Netherlands, 20th century].
1. Color print on hard cardboard sheet. "Jerusalem - View from the Mount of Olives" (Jeruzalem - Gezien Van Den Olijfberg). 70X99.5 cm. Fair condition. Stains, peeling, hanging holes and pasting marks.
2. Color print on hard cardboard sheet. "Jerusalem - The Temple Square" (Jeruzalem - Het Tempelplein). 74.5X104 cm. Fair condition. Stains, peeling and hanging marks. Wide dampstain to bottom of print.
3. Color print on thick brown paper. "Street in Jerusalem" (Straat in Jeruzalem). Stretched between two wooden poles. Hanging wire on top pole. 76.5X95.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Stains, creases. Includes cloth bag.
These plates, from the series "Palestine in Words and Pictures", were printed in the Netherlands for hanging in schools. The painter Ludwig Blum, born in Lisen, Czechoslovakia in 1891, immigrated to Palestine in 1923 and settled in Jerusalem. He held many exhibitions in Palestine, Europe and the U.S., and was one of the leaders of the initiative to found the Artists' House in Jerusalem, in a building situated near the King David Hotel that had been in use as a British officers' club. In 1968 Blum received the "Yakir Yerushalayim" (Worthy Citizen of Jerusalem) award for his artistic contribution to the city. Blum died in Jerusalem in 1974.

"Jewish Artists Association, members' gift" (Hebrew). Published by the "Bezalel School, Jerusalem" [ca. 1926].
An album handed out as a gift to members of the "Jewish Artists Association", containing eight stencil prints by Shmuel Ben-David and Meir Gur-Arie, and photographic reproductions of various works (including the sculpture "Mattathias the Hasmonean" and the bronze plaque "Midnight", both by Boris Schatz).
The prints and photographs are mounted on brown paper and inserted in a black paper wrapper (also stencil-printed).
The "Jewish Artists Association" was founded in 1920. Its first board members included Shmuel Ben-David, Meir Gur-Arie, Abraham Melnikoff and Abel Pann. In the years 1921-1928 the association held a number of exhibitions; all except one were held at the Tower of David. During the 1930s the association's activities ceased, and in 1934 it was replaced by the "Painters and Sculptors Association".
[12] leaves, 22X30 cm (print size varies). Filing holes to each leaf and to wrapper (for binding with a string). Good condition. Damage to wrapper. Inserted in a box.

1. Original sketch for the front wrapper of the postcard binder "The Jewish Settlements in Palestine, series A.", by Ze'ev Raban. The binder was published by the Yaakov Ben Dov publishing house.
A collage composed of pieces of photographs and a watercolor on paper illustration (signed in the bottom right corner). Paper card: 12X17 cm (illustration: 9X13.5 cm).
2-3. Two paper stubs (identical), "Bezalel Cooperative Store", designed by Shmuel Ben-David. Signed by the director Boris Schatz and by the treasurer. On the reverse of one of the stubs is a stamp of the "Carmel Mizrachi" company from 1913. Approx. 5X13.5 cm.
4. Jerusalem, general view, undivided postcard. Sent to Boris Schatz in Jaffa by Yisrael Dushman (1994-1947, poet, writer, translator and teacher; one of the first teachers at the "Herzliya Gymnasium") and Yisrael Yehuda Adler (1870-1948, a philanthropist and Hebrew teacher, one of the founders of the "Herzliya Gymnasium" and of Tel Aviv and Ramat Gan). A short handwritten letter with a request "to send us written permission to enter the 'Bezalel' school", signed by Dushman and Adler. 9X14 cm.
