Passover Haggadah, Ostroh, [1819], printed by "Aharon Madpis".
With the commentaries of Maharam Alshich, Gevurot Hashem (by the Maharal), Ollelot Efraim, Abarbanel on the poem Az Rov Nissim and commentary on Chad Gadya, including the laws of Bedikat Chametz and of the Fast of the Firstborns, laws of baking matzot, hag'alat kelim (koshering utensils) and of the Pesach Seder. Charming, elegant illustrations. The woodcut-illustrations were fashioned after the copperplate illustrations from the 1781 Amsterdam Haggadah. The Piyyutim Adir Hu, Ehad Mi Yode'a and Chad Gadya have a Yiddish-Deitsch translation.
This book has a variant edition with the Vilna Gaon's commentary on the last three pages, and without the names of the printers which appear on the last page of this copy. According to the title page, this copy is apparently the second edition, in which the commentary and the name of the Vilna Gaon were deliberately omitted.
Mispagination: [1], 25, 27-36, [2], 41-52 leaves. 24 cm. The large words on the title page are printed in red ink. Fair condition. Stains, open tears and damages to title page and to several leaves, professionally restored. New binding.
Ya'ari 419. Otzar 591. [See also Otzar HaHaggadot 590].
