Comprehensive study of Syria and Palestine, by Olfert Dapper (1639-1689) - Dutch writer, historian and geographer.
Including many engraved plates (most double-spread or folded) and engravings incorporated in the text. These include maps and engravings that depict Syria, Damascus and Tripoli; maps of Palestine, showing the territories of the 12 Tribes of Israel; maps and illustrations of Jerusalem, the Mount of Olives and Bethlehem; a depiction of Jaffa viewed from the sea, and more.
[2] leaves, [6], 262, [4] pp, [2] leaves, 1-344, 337-581, [7] pp. 38 engraved plates + [1] engraved-plate (frontspiece). A folded map appears to be missing from the beginning of the second part. 30.5 cm. Good condition. Some stains and tears, minor worming and slight damage. The second part of the book contains diagrams comparing different cities of the world (Rome, Stockholm, St. Petersburg, Peking and others), as well as diagrams and illustrations (partly colored) of the construction of the Tower of Babel.

A portfolio of maps, being the second part of the "Ordnance Survey of Palestine" conducted by Captain Charles William Wilson (1836-1905), in 1864.
Contains five folding, cloth-backed maps, including two maps of Jerusalem and maps of the Temple Mount, Dome of the Rock, and Church of the Holy Sepulchre.
The Ordnance Survey of Palestine was the first modern cartographic and archaeological survey conducted in Palestine. During the survey Wilson discovered the arch named after him, in the northern area of Jerusalem's Western Wall.
Original portfolio, 53X38 cm, wear, tears and damages (two of the three flaps of the portfolio are detached and one is missing). Maps in good condition, with some wear and stains.

Underground Jerusalem, an account of some of the principal difficulties encountered in its exploration and the results obtained, Charles Warren. London: Richard Bentley and Son, 1876. English.
"Underground Jerusalem", by Charles Warren, an officer in the British Royal Engineers. Warren was sent to Palestine in 1867 by the British Palestine Exploration Fund and was one of the pioneers of archeology in the Holy Land, particularly in Jerusalem. The book contains nine plates - three photographs (the Western Wall, a group of Ashkenazi Jews and Samaritans praying on Mount Gerizim) and six diagrams and illustrations, with many additional illustrations incorporated in the text.
XX, 559 pp. + [9] plates, 22 cm. Good condition. Some foxing, mostly to first and last pages and to page edges.
