Poster of the Executive Committee of the "Organization of General Zionists in Palestine" (Histadrut HaTziyonim HaKlaliyim); printed after the U.N. resolution on the partition of Palestine and the establishment of the State of Israel. Shoshani Press, Tel Aviv, [November 29, 1947]. Hebrew.
The contents: An announcement of the U.N. resolution and a call to enlist in the service of the state. "The supreme institution of world nations has recognized the Jewish people's right to a homeland!... And if indeed the prescribed borders do not include the entire territory of our historical land, then this declaration constitutes a major turn in the chronicles of our ancient and world-weary people… the nations of the world have given us their resolution - but the establishment of the state is the job of the Jewish people!... enlist in the service of our homeland! Long live the Jewish state!"
Approx. 62.5X95 cm. Fair-good condition. Stains, creases, folding marks and tears (one tear with damage to text).

Three letters sent from the Old City of Jerusalem during the siege on the city in the War of Independence, shortly prior to the fall of the Jewish Quarter, 1947-1948.
1. In a letter dated Adar 1947, addressed to the Religious Council, the commander of Betar Company of "Betar camp 'Hakotel'" in the Old City, informs that they plan to found a "unit of 25 Betar members in the Old City…" and asks to get supplies of Matzot and dishes for Passover, for the company.
2. In a letter dated April 1948, addressed to the Chief Rabbi Yitzchak Isaac Halevi Herzog, four of the Jewish Quarter inhabitants write: “we are at real life-endangering risks; during recent nights the British soldiers bombarded the Jewish Quarter, hit some of the synagogues…we have to add that we felt that we are all going to die…”.
3. In a letter from April 1948 Rabbi Israel Ze’ev Minzberg writes to Rabbi Herzog and tells him about the situation in the Old City.
