Four paper items calling for the establishment of an independent Jewish army, instead of the recruitment of Jewish soldiers from Palestine to the British Army. [Early 1940s].
* Proclamation protesting the intention of the British to prosecute hundreds of soldiers from the Jewish Brigades who refuse to wear the emblem of the Palestinian Regiment established by the British, which they call a "Yellow Badge" (1943). * Proclamation arguing that participation in the war as part of the British Army is unsuited to "our honor and national status…" and that "if we don't fight for the establishment of a Jewish Army, that will mean we have accepted our status as a dependent 'ethnic group', which, although it helped to overthrow Hitler, has renounced its national aspirations". * Small pamphlet, "Give us a Jewish Army". * Printed note, "The children of Israel ask you, Jewish soldier… not to wear the yellow badge - the 'Palestinian' emblem".
Size and condition vary. Stains. Tear to one proclamation.
