Book of hymns edited by the Central Conference of American Rabbis (the leading organization of Reform rabbis in the U.S.). Includes prayers, liturgical songs and more, with musical notes. The music was arranged by the Society of American Cantors.
An exquisite copy dedicated to the cantor and composer Alois Kaiser, by the Central Conference of American Rabbis, "for his services in the preparation, publication and distribution of the Union Hymnal". Bound in a handsome gilt-tooled leather binding. The dedication on the front endpaper is also gilt.
Alois Kaiser (1840-1908), was born in Hungary and studied in Vienna. From the age of 10 he sang in the choir of Cantor Salomon Sulzer. In the years 1863-1866 he was the cantor of the Maisel Synagogue in Prague. In 1866 he immigrated to the U.S., where he was appointed cantor of the Oheb Shalom community in Baltimore, Maryland. He served for some years as president of the Society of American Cantors. From 1895 he was an honorary member of the Central Conference of American Rabbis.

In the pamphlet, the nine verses of HaTikva are printed in Hebrew, followed by a Persian-Jewish translation. On the front is a large Star of David and inside the word "Zion", in golden ink.
One of the first printed items to be printed in Persian-Jewish and Hebrew at the printing press in Tehran, founded in 1917 or 1918. Apparently, this is the first translation of HaTikva to Persian-Jewish.
