Collection of documents from the estate of Irma Rothstern (nee Bernstein), born in Hamburg, 1886, who lived during the 1920s in Vienna, fled the Nazis in 1939 to Shanghai together with her son Heinz, and lived there until the early 1950s.
Items include: * Nazi passport in which Rothstern is called "Irma Sarah", stamped with a large red letter J. The passport, issued in 1939, includes stamps that attest to her departure from Germany, through Italy, to Hong Kong. * Four postcards sent to Rothstern in the years 1915-1917 (while she was living in Vienna), two of them sent by her husband and brother, who served in the army during World War I. * Letters of recommendation from her places of employment during the years 1928-1929 (in Vienna and Hamburg) and another letter from 1937. * Three documents from Shanghai, from the early 1950s, and three documents from Hamburg and Vienna from the first half of the 1950s. * Documents related to Irma's son, Heinz Rothstern, born in Vienna in 1915: seven report cards from his school in Vienna (1926-1930), two undated postcards sent to him during that period, a recommendation from a place of employment in Vienna in 1938, three documents from Shanghai from the 1940s-1950s, and two letters of recommendation from Hamburg from the early 1960s.

A certificate written and illustrated by hand, in honor of Adolf (Avraham) Berman, on behalf of the Jewish sports club "Stern" [yiddisher arbiter sport-club "Stern"]. Wroclaw (Poland), 1949. Yiddish. Signed on the margins: "Segalle - 49".
An illustration of two cornucopias, with figures of sportsmen. Between them appears a dedication in Yiddish: "dem ern forsitzer Adolf Berman in tog fun….'Hashomer Hatza'ir" [to the chairman Adolf Berman, on the day of unity between the Jewish workers party "Poalei Zion" and Jewish workers party "Hashomer Hatza'ir"]. Above the dedication appears the logo of the sports club "Stern" (a Star of David in green and blue). On the lower part of the certificate - signatures of the chairman of the sports club Adolf Berman (in whose honor the certificate was prepared), the two vice chairmen and the secretary of the club.
Avraham (Adolf) Berman (1906-1978), a Jewish-Polish public figure, during WW II he was general director of CENTOS organization that assisted orphans, and was one of the leaders of the Anti-Nazi resistance movement in the Warsaw Ghetto. Was member of the Polish Parliament in the 1940s. Immigrated to Israel in 1950 and was active in Mapam. Later was Knesset Member on behalf of Mapam and Maki.

The issues include many articles on the Holocaust, on Germany after the war, Jewish history and culture and news from Palestine, with many photographs and illustrations. The last issue, released in July 1948, includes a photographic essay depicting the proclamation of the State of Israel.

Complete set - 19 issues in twelve booklets (some are "double" issues), printed for the She'erit Ha-Pletah in Germany. The issues include many articles on the Holocaust, on Germany after the war, Jewish history and culture and news from Palestine, with many photographs and illustrations. The last issue, released in July 1948, includes a photographic essay depicting the proclamation of the State of Israel.
