"Shikaron", a poem of five verses in handwriting of the poet Alexander Penn (1906-1972); signed. Probably rough draft for a three-verse poem also entitled "Shikaron", which he wrote in 1930. (See Volume I, page 92 of "The Poems", Alexander Penn).
As indicated by its name, the poem bears the character of a wine-poem, against the backdrop of the city Tel Aviv ("The city drowses like a cat…"). The cafés Chermon and Sheleg Levanon are mentioned in it.
Single page, 26.5x17.5 cm.
Good condition; creases and folding lines. The back has adheive tape for re-enforcement, as there are tears on the folding lines – not causing omission to text.

Meir Chartiner (1880-1972), writer, translator and editor. Wrote for the Yiddish and Hebrew press, and was editor of “HaOlam” magazine.
Hundreds of single pages, numerous articles by Chartiner and article drafts proofread by him in handwriting, letters to and from Chartiner, and drafts of letters. Among the documents: A poem and translation of a story by Meir Mohar, article with description of the Mt. Scopus convoy tragedy during the War of Independence, and a number of article drafts on the subject of Theodor Herzl’s book “The Jewish State” in honour of the 50th anniversary of its publication.
