Collection of documents, the Committee for Hebrew Names of the Israel Defense Forces, 1948.
The collection includes: Letters by Lieutenant Colonel M. Nimtza-Bi, Head of the Committee for Hebrew Names: “The Defense Minister has requested that Israel’s soldiers change their surnames from foreign names to Hebrew names…” And another letter: “We have decided, therefore, to approach writers, journalists, teachers, and public personalities and ask them to suggest Hebrew names instead of foreign ones.”; A blank form from the Aliyah office (of the temporary government) with a request to publish an announcement regarding change of name; a letter and nine pages with suggestions from the Mayor of Petach-Tikva for Hebrew name changes from common foreign names; 27 pages with lists of suggestions of Hebrew names, some printed and some handwritten.

Very good condition. Tearing on the margins and some staining.

Approximately 270 elections propaganda proclamations of צ' – Histadrut HaZionim HaKlaliyim in Israel – the Central Party [liberal party]. Several are illustrated. The others are in different languages and from different places around the country; some include invitations to gatherings attended by party members belonging to various authorities.
Good condition. Some bear tears, filing holes and stains.

Printed poster, with photograph of Ze’ev Jabotinsky, 1964. “All people of the nation, ready to receive and escort Ze’ev Jabotinsky and his wife to their eternal rest, are requested to keep orderly conduct and silence during the ceremonies…” Includes details of the funeral procession in Tel-Aviv, Jerusalem and Ramat-Gan.
