Two amulet tablecloths. Persia, [ca.1930s-40s]. Cotton with wood-block printing. 1. Floral prints in the center with an inscription on the margins: “Thou should love your G-d…” (Exodus 23:25-26); the verses are written intermittently, from left to right. 135X215 cm. Arabic ink stamp on the reverse. 2. A floral rhombus in the center surrounded by Stars of David and the letters “Magen David”. 258X130 cm. Metal loops on both textiles. Good-fair condition, some stains.

Eight Kippot (skullcaps). Bukhara, Uzbekistan and the vicinity, [first half of 20th century]. Silk, velvet, cotton; cardboard (some of the Kippot); embroidery in golden and colorful threads. Embroidered Kippot for Shabbat, holidays, weddings and special occasions. Various styles: some Kippot are pointed while others are flat or round. Some are with a woven border ribbon, some have a fringe. The style of embroidery varies from simple geometric patterns to complex ones. Average diameter: 15 cm, average height: 10 cm. Overall good condition. Unraveled threads to some Kippot, wear and usage marks. Enclosed is an Ashkenazi Kippah with Stars of David.

Four pieces of jewelry / accessories for headdresses. Yemen and the Near East (Central Asia), [early 20th century]. 1. Elegant silver accessory, part of a headdress. Filigree ornamentations, engraved animals, corals and chains with silver coins. A bird on the upper part. Diameter: 8.5 cm, length: 39 cm. 2. Remarkable silver accessory, part of a headdress. Filgree ornamentations and silver bands, shaped as a Star of David, with green stones. No chains. Diameter: 10.5 cm. 3. Belt made of rectangular silver links, with filigree ornamentations and delicate filigree chains. Length: 28 cm. 4. Amulet-pendant, for wearing on a garment. Collection of jewelry. Yemen, Early 20th century. Gold; silver, gold plated; stones. 1-2. Two pairs of earrings / ornaments for headdress. One pair is crafted in delicate filigree, in gold, with gold balls; the second pair is set with a light blue stone and gold drop-shaped pendants, in the center - a conic pendant with a red stone. Average length of earrings: 7 cm, average width: 5 cm. 3-4. Two rings. One is crafted in filigree work adorned with alternating rhombuses and flowers; the other ring is set with a sky blue stone, adorned with flowers, rhombuses and small stones. Diameter of rings: 2 cm. Good condition. Black stain to one earring (gold filigree). Items from a bridal costume. Tétouan, Morocco, [late 19th century]. Velvet, metal-threads embroidery on cardboard. Offered here are three items from the “Great Dress”, a dress which served Jewish women in Morocco at their wedding and afterwards was worn on festive occasions and on Jewish festivals. 1. A wrap-around skirt with golden embroidery made of blue velvet with decorations made of golden ribbons. The skirt consists of several parts sewn together at the waist. On the inside part near the waistline, appears a star which is considered an abstraction of a hand – Hamsa. Width of skirt at hem: 260 cm, length: 100 cm. Good-fair condition, holes, tears and amendments. 2. An elaborate vest – short and tight, with short sleeves (the custom was to wear under the vest wide lace sleeves). Large circles, similar to decorations of shrouds from Tétouan, are embroidered with golden ribbons. Length: 50 cm, width: 50 cm. Fair condition. Vest’s buttons are missing. Tears and holes. 3. Braided wig (part of a bride’s headdress) made of a band with black silk threads, braided. Diameter: 21 cm, length of braids: 70 cm. Good condition. Some unraveled parts on the inside.

Vest. Short sleeves made of green velvet, with ribbons on the upper part and two metal beads which serve as buttons. The lower part and the lining are made of turquoise felt. 50X50 cm. 3. Blouse made of off-white cotton, with wide sleeves. A green velvet part in front, with a pattern made of embroidery-ribbons; a string to adjust the size in the back. 59X49 cm. 4. Wig (part of bride’s headdress) made of a decorated band with black, long, silk threads. Diameter: 21 cm, length: approx. 120 cm.

Bridal costume. Iraq, early 20th century. Tulle; cotton embroidered with golden thread. The costume consists of a skirt, blouse and scarf, embroidered and sewn by hand, made of tulle, with golden threads Jap embroidery. Two Stars of David with the word “Zion” within are embroidered next to the neckline. The skirt and blouse are adorned with a floral pattern and rhombus-shaped ornamentations. A larger flower is embroidered on the hem. A decorative plead is sewn in the center of the skirt. The skirt has an elastic string. The scarf is embroidered with stars, a decorative tree and a bird in the corners. Skirt: length: 82 cm, width: 62 cm; blouse: length: 56 cm, width: 43 cm; length of sleeves: 62 cm; scarf: 130X130 cm. Overall condition: fair-good. Small holes to tulle fabric. Three small stains to scarf. Elastic string of skirt fastened with safety pins.
