"El HaYishuv, El Rachavei Hagolah!" (Hebrew). A poster issued by the Jewish Agency, the National Jewish Council, encouraging enlistment to the Jewish Brigade. "Avoda" Printing Press, Tel-Aviv, April 1945.
The poster was printed towards the end of battles of the Jewish Brigade in Italy. On the upper part appears the emblem of the Jewish Brigade and the announcement by General Clark, commander of the Allied Forces in Italy: "We are pleased that we have a Jewish Brigade cooperating with our forces on the Italian front… the Jewish people who suffered the atrocities of the Nazis, are now represented directly by fighting forces…”. Further, the Eretz-Israeli public is addressed: “the Jewish Brigade went into battle, Jewish soldiers are fighting fearlessly… with the Allied Forces… let volunteers join the forces..!”. Approx. 50X70 cm. Good condition. Folding marks and slight tears. Some stains. Ink-stamp.

Poster calling to document testimonies about the holocaust period, issued by the "Central Historical Commission" in Lodz. Lodz, 1945. Design: Pinchas Schuldenrein (signed in print). Yiddish and Polish.
An open book is seen in front; on the right page appears the inscription "Vehigadeta Lebincha" (Hebrew: and thou shall tell your son). Behind the book, a seven-branched Menorah. In the background – ruins of a Jewish town. An inscription in Yiddish on top of the poster: "The Historical truth will be the grave of Fascism"; on the lower part an inscription in Polish: "The Historical Truth is the Weapon of the Struggle against Fascism".
The artist Pinchas Schuldenrein was born in Poland and studied in the Warsaw Academy of Arts. After the Holocaust he established an art studio in the area of the displaced-persons camp in Zeilsheim with the aid of the JDC, where he created his famous work – "Yizkor". He taught art to children in the displaced-persons camps and his work was inspired by the Holocaust. In 1947 Zeilsheim immigrated to the USA and settled in New York. A few years later he changed his name to Paul Sharon. In New York he worked as an independent graphic artist and for the Schlesinger Brothers, until his death in 1998. 49.5X71 cm. Good-fair condition. Folding marks and creases. Professionally restored tears. Mounted on acid-free paper.

[Jewish youth, the sea calls you!], poster issued by Noham (No'ar Chlutzi Meuchad) in Germany, calling to join the seamanship training group "Kovshei HaYam" [Hebrew: Conquerors of the Sea] in the Deggendorf DP camp, near Munich. Printed by F. Bruckmann KG, Munich, [1947]. Yiddish.
A poster announcing the opening of a new training course of "Kovshei HaYam" seamanship training group in the Deggendorf DPC, calling young boys and girls, 17-24 years of age, with a minimum of five years school education and a certificate declaring that they are in good health, to turn to the representatives of the Jewish Agency in the camp, or to Noham organization representatives or to the director of “Kovshei HaYam”, Shlomo Steindel, and enroll in the training program of sailors, fishermen and seamen.
The importance of seamanship training for “She’erit HaPletah” is emphasized: “if Jews want to be independent in Eretz Israel, they must regain all of the Jewish lands and seas, and become again a nation of farmers, fishermen and sailors…” (Yiddish).
After World War II, approximately 2000 refugees occupied Deggendorg DP camp, most of them from Theresienstadt, on their way to Eretz Israel. A lively cultural activity took place in the camp with two newspapers, a theater group, synagogue, Mikveh and a Kosher kitchen. The camp administration even issued its own paper currency. 42X61 cm. Good-fair condition. Folding marks. Restored tears (slight paint restorations). Linen-backed for display and preservation.
