Confrontation der "Geheimnisse der Weisen von Zion". ("Die Zionistischen Protokolle") mit ihrer Quelle "Dialogue aux enfers entre Machiavel et Montesquieu", Der Nachweis der Falschung. [Confrontation between the Protocols of the Elderly of Zion with the origin - Dialogues in hell between Machiavelli and Montesquieu; proof of forgery]. [Published by Rechtsschutzabteilung des Schweizerischen Israelitischen Gemeindebundes]. [Basel, 1933]. German.
A composition proving that the "Protocols of the Elderly of Zion" are a forgery, comparing three texts - a German version of the "Protocols" titled "Secrets of the Elderly of Zion" (die Geheimnisse der Weisen von Zion) by Ludwig Mueller; "The Zionist Protocols" (Die Zionistischen Protokolle) by Theodor Fritsch (1852-1933), politician, member of "The German Anti-Semitic People's Party", a leading anti-Semitic ideologue in Germany; the book "Dialogues in Hell between Machiavelli and Montesquieu", by Maurice Joly, published in Brussels in 1864 criticizing napoleon's regime (dialogues composed for this book served at a later stage as a base for the "Protocols of the Elderly of Zion").
In 1933 the "Swiss Federation of Jewish Communities" sued the "Bund Nationalsozialistischer Eidgenossen" (Swiss National-Socialist Front) for distributing the "Protocols of the Elderly of Zion" in one of the movement's conventions. In 1934 the "Berne Trial" started and many evidences were gathered about the sources of the protocols and their uses (one of the first witnesses on behalf of the prosecution was Chaim Weizmann). In 1935, the court in Switzerland determined that the protocols are a forgery. This booklet was printed towards the Berne Trial or a similar trial held at the same time in Basel. 44 pp, 31 cm. Good condition. Folding mark in the center of the booklet. Torn cover, detached.

Printed document - "Protective-Certificate" granted to János Károly on behalf of the Swedish Embassy in Budapest. Signed by hand by Raoul Wallenberg, in his capacity as secretary of the embassy. Budapest, 26 September, 1944.
The certificate instructs to refer to János Károly as a Swedish national in every respect and to grant him an exemption from wearing a distinguishing sign as a Jew [upon the occupation of Hungary, in March 1944, Jews were obliged to wear a Yellow Star]. 20.5X14.5 cm. Printed on official stationery of the Swedish Embassy in Budapest, stamped with embassy's ink stamp. Good condition. Folding marks. Minor stains.
The activity of the Swedish ambassador in Budapest to help Jews began a short while after the 1944 German occupation of Hungary. The Swedish ambassador, Danielsson, issued Swedish temporary passports for Hungarian Jews who had family or commercial ties with Swedish subjects. In July 1944, after many of the Hungarian Jews were deported to Auschwitz, Raoul Wallenberg was sent to Budapest by the Swedish foreign ministry to help assist Jews still left in the city.
The Hungarian and German authorities usually respected the authority of the Swedish ambassador, and Wallenberg managed to issue thousands of “protective passports” which protected Jews, even though they weren’t valid by law. Wallenberg also acted in other ways to save Hungarian Jews. Part of this activity was the establishment of safe-houses for Jews, and the attempts to pressure the Nazi-regime seniors to stop the transportation of Jews to Auschwitz demanding to free the ones holding “protective passports”. In 1966 Raoul Wallenberg was proclaimed “Righteous among the Nations” by “Yad Vashem”.

"Seven days of mourning for Olim from Romania" (Hebrew), broadside issued by the Association of Romanian Olim in Eretz Israel. Yitzchak Brocker printing press, Tel-Aviv, [January 1942].
"Seven days of mourning for Romanian Olim who cry for their sons, parents, brothers and sisters, 765 souls, among them more than 100 babies…who survived the horrors of the beast…and did not imagine that they might be sentenced to death again…"
The text refers to the sinking of the illegal immigration ship "Struma".
In December 1941, the ship "Struma" sailed from Romania to Istanbul as part of the "Etzel" operation "Af Al Pi", with about 760 immigrants (Ma'apilim) on board, refugees from Romania. The plan was to arrive in Istanbul and from there to await the promised certificates for Eretz Israel; but upon arrival it turned out that the certificates were not available and despite endless efforts their entry was denied. In February 1942 the Turkish Coastal Guard towed the ship to open sea, with no water, food or fuel. Shortly afterwards the ship was drowned by a Soviet submarine. Only one passenger survived. Ca. 30.5X46.5 cm. Good condition. Minor stains, creases and folding marks.
