"Laying Tefillin". Czechoslovakia, [ca.1910].
Terracotta relief. Marked on the reverse: Made in Czechoslovakia 936.
The relief is based on the painting "Laying Tefillin" by the painter Stanislaus Bender, painted ca. 1910 in Poland. The painting portrays a boy taught by an elderly rabbi how to lay Tefillin.
Height: 25 cm, width: 34.5 cm, depth: 3 cm.

Leather covered wood; cardboard; fabric; engraved silver plaque (marked, Russian silver mark).
Silver plaque set on case cover with engraving: fine ornamentation with a Star of David and the word “Zion” inside, engraved at the bottom is a dedication in Russian: "To dear Shurochka [Alex], from the Patkin family, August 28, 1946". Enclosed with the case is a small portrait photo of a Patkin family girl, with her name in Russian and Chinese. The case was used by Jews from Russian origin that lived in China.
Case: 18.5x12.5 cm. Tear and peelings to cardboard pocket. Tears to attachment of case to cover. Photo: 4X6 cm. Good condition.

Elaborate silver plaque, designed as a postcard. An engraved greeting in honor of the birthday of Hungarian rabbi Ferenc Hevesi (1898-1952), rabbi of the Great Synagogue of Budapest (Dohány Street Synagogue) Budapest, 1938.

On one side of the plaque – an engraved greeting in Hungarian for Rabbi Ferenc Hevesi's 40th birthday, from Wilmos Weber. The date and location are added in the end: Budapest, June 15, 1938. The reverse of the plaque is designed as a postcard, with engraved names of the addressee and the sender. A Hungarian Postal stamp is finely engraved as well as a postal ink stamp of Budapest.

Inscription within ornamented arches" Megillat Esther HaMalka" and "Shoshanat Ya'akov Tzahala VeSamecha"; one arch is blank, for inscribing owner's name. The figures of Bigthan and Teresh are engraved, with an additional engraving: "LaYehudim Hayta Ora VeSimcha VeSasson VeYakar". A crown-like decorated cover (removable).
Height: 30 cm, diameter: 8 cm. Good condition. Minor bends.

Silver (marked), cast and engraved.
Panel decorated with floral pattern, topped by a Torah crown, in its center a pair of lions flanking the Tablets of the Law. A raw of vessels shaped as lions. Head of each lion can be opened for insertion of oil and a wick comes out of its mouth. Crouching lions on elevated stages, on both sides of the vessels. Vessel for Shamash and oil vessel, removable.
