Typewriter with Hebrew keys, made by Hammond. USA, [1920s].
Hammond Multiplex, Model 26 typewriter. A bi-lingual keyboard with Hebrew and Latin keys.
The Hammond "Multimplex" Model, was the first model which enabled interchanging languages according to the customer's choice. The company offered the possibility of typing in hundreds of languages, amongst them in Hebrew. Two Hebrew typewriters were ordered by the Sassoon family. One of the two is presented here.
The typewriter is attached to a wooden board, with a black case. Base: 37X35 cm. Height: 20 cm. The typewriter is in good order and in good mechanical condition. Minor rust spots.

Eleven high quality porcelain plates, made in honor of the wedding of Flora Avraham and Solomon David Sassoon. Vienna, 1876.
High quality porcelain plates, decorated with gold, pink, purple and green (two different patterns: seven bear one pattern and four the other). Every plate is signed on its verso with the manufacturer's mark and the artist's signature. "Wahliss Wien" [Ernst Wahliss] and" Made in Austria."
In the center of each plate: the monogram "FSS"– The initial letters of "Flora", "Solomon" and "Sassoon". Over the monogram is a bird with a branch in its beak.
Solomon David Sassoon (1841-1894) and Flora nee Avraham (1859-1936), were married in 1876, when Flora was still a young woman. After her husbands' death in 1894, Flora managed for several years the family owned textile business, in Bombay. In 1901 she moved to England.

A seal for making an impression in wax, which belonged to Rabbi David Solomon Sassoon, [first half of 20th cent.].
Cast brass; engraved stone.
The initials "DS" are engraved on the stone – initials of Rabbi David Solomon Sassoon (1881-1942). The handle is shaped as a foot with a sandal.

An elliptically shaped Ethrog container; the lid is inscribed: "Pri eitz hadar" [fruit of a beautiful tree]. It has floral and seashell decorations and an two unfilled cartouches.

The container is shaped as a woven basket of silver bands with a stripe decorated with flowers and leaves. The lid is covered with leaves (resembling roofing tiles) topped with an Ethrog which serves as a handle to open the container.
Height: 12 cm, width: 16 cm, depth: 11 cm.

Sawn and engraved silver. Marked: SF, Jerusalem, Alt-Neu, 925.
Fine box, with a handle on its back. Adorned with flowers and with floral and geometric designs. In front there is a door which can be opened, with a bird. The inscription "Zedaka" is engraved on the upper side as well as Rachel's Tomb, Absalom's Tomb, Tower of David and a general view of the Old City of Jerusalem. Four legs turned outwards, shaped as lions.
Height: 18.5 cm, width: 9 cm, depth: 7.5 cm.

Hanukkah lamp, created by the artist Avi Luvaton. Jerusalem, [late 20th cent.].
Wood; silver, marked: "Sterling" and "Luvaton".
Wooden base which resembles a threefold stage. In front appears an inscription; "HaNerot HaLalu Kodesh Hem" in silver letters. On top of the stage – a removable silver tray with eight rectangular oil fonts made of silver, with lids and spouts for wicks. On the back panel are two silver plaques, on the right one appears the figure of Judas Maccabeus and on the left side – Mattathias the Priest. The figure of Judas Maccabeus appears also on the four corners of the base.
Height: 22.5 cm, width: 25 cm, depth: 12.5 cm.

Cast brass. Signed on the bottom "Made in Israel M.G.T.A 58".
Hanukkah Lamp in honor of Israel's tenth anniversary, relief decorations on both sides. On one side, historical scene depicting the Maccabean wars and the lighting of the Temple menorah, on the other side: Israel's emblem, a soldier, a pioneer women and local buildings. There are similar Hanukkah Lamps known of made by "Pal Bell". Height: 10 cm, width: 19.5 cm, depth: 8 cm (including the protruding "shamash"). Good condition.

Side panel decorated with a palm tree, a pair of gazelles and two Shofarot (cornucopia) loaded with fruit. The oil fonts are arranged as an arc, the "shamash" in the center is shaped as an oil jug.
Height: 13 cm, width: 18 cm, depth: 7.5 cm.
Cast and drilled brass.
