Illustrated poster issued by the Jewish Naval League. "Ot" printing press, Haifa, [2nd half of 1930s]. Design: Elsner.
"the shores and the sea call for renewal of connection with Jewish sailors…Jew! Join the League as a member and help achieve its goals."
In 1935 Beitar movement started naval training in Italy, with the establishment of a school for seamanship in Civitavecchia, Italy. Cadets from the Yishuv and from the Diaspora participated in this course. To finance the school, the Jewish Naval League was founded in 1937. 62.5X93.5 cm. Good-fair condition. Folding-marks, professionally restored tears. Cloth backed for display and preservation.

"To avoid misunderstandings and unnecessary disturbances and additional disasters, the city decided to completely forbid passing through or gathering in the streets next to the borders of Jaffa-Tel-Aviv where population consists of Arabs and Jews, 200 meters away from the borders. An impressive poster in lithographic printing, designed by the painter Yohanan Simon. The poster portrays a pair of muscled arms, flying the flag up the mast (also in blue and white) next to which appears a sentence from the Declaration of Independence: "it is the natural right of the Jewish people to be like all other nations in their own sovereign state." This poster, dedicated to the right of the Jewish people to be independent in a sovereign Jewish state, reflects the Socialist-realistic style of the period. 67X100 cm, framed 76X108 cm. A colorful poster designed by the graphic designer Rudolf Seidner. The illustration portrays a column with a Corinthian-like capital with a relief of leaves, typical of the second temple buildings and those built after the destruction of the second temple.
