Noticias del Comercio Marítimo y Trafico Entre Espana y su America compuesto, by Daniel de Medina. Havana, 1740 [it is possible that this is a copy of early 19th cent.]. Spanish.
A handwritten composition concerning traffic and maritime commerce between Spain and its colonies in America, by Daniel de Medina. This composition deals with the importance of maritime commerce between Spain and its colonies in the continent of America, with ways to secure maritime commerce from Pirates' attacks, with slaves trade to the Spanish colonies in America through franchise given to foreign private entrepreneurs, with the importance of commerce between the Spanish colonies in America to the Philippines, with the commercial and maritime competition between Spain and England and Holland, with ways to overcome illegal commerce between America and countries competing with Spain (mainly England) and with the means to maintain the Spanish monopoly as far as its commerce with Spanish America is concerned. The author, Daniel de Medina, as implied from the composition, was of the Creole-Spanish elite in Cuba. [1], 17 leaves, 19.5 cm. Very good condition. Minor stains. Original leather binding.

Second issue of the literary periodical issued by "Left Front of the Arts", edited by the poet Vladimir Mayakovsky. Cover design by Alexander Mikhailovich Rodchenko. On pp. 66-67 appear additional works done by Rodchenko (logos for airlines) as well as works done by his wife, the artist Varvara Stepanova, such as sportswear design.
"Left Front of the Arts" was a society of artists active in the USSR during the 1920s. Headed by Vladimir Mayakovsky along with artists and intellectuals of the constructivist and futuristic movements in the USSR. The periodical LEF was published during the years 1923-1925. In 1927 it changed its title to Novy LEF ("New Left Front of the Arts") and continued to exist till 1929 (See "Kedem" catalogue no. 7, item 283). Ten issues of the periodical "Blue Blouse", a periodical of a collective group of theater artists by the same name, which acted during the 1920s-30s in the Soviet Union. Issues no. 13-15, 18, 27-28 (double issue), 29-31, 33, 35.
The collective was founded around the idea of a "living newspaper" – plays based on passages from newspapers. Its members performed wearing plain clothes working in plants, workers' restaurants, bars, etc, intending to widespread the ideas of the Proletariat . The plays dealt with political and social issues, through poetry, satire, pantomime and folk dancing.
This periodical was published during the years 1924-1928, irregularly. Issues include passages from the repertoire of "Blue Blouse" groups, poems, satiric sketches, etc. and include photos and photomontages. The covers are designed in a modernistic style integrating photomontage works. Issues 22.5 cm. Condition varies (generally, good condition).
