Passover Haggadah. Neve -Ilan, [1947], [1949].
The Haggadah of 1947 is the first one issued by this Moshav which was founded in October 1946 by 31 ex-members of the French anti-Nazi resistance movement – "Maquis".
The two Haggadot presented are similar and very interesting: a special "ShHecheyanu" blessing appears on the first page: "…we survived the horrors of hell…we are happy to be part of She'erit HaPleita, whole in body and soul. We reached the present day and were fortunate to be rooted in our homeland and celebrate this Passover eve in our Moshav…" (In the 1949 Haggada the text reads: "we are partners with those who establish our state and fight for its liberation and independence"…). On the second page appears a text in memory of the victims of concentration camps and the fighters of the 1948 war. On the sixth page in the 1947 Haggadah appears a variation on the poem by Bialik "Birkat Am" ("Techezakna") dedicated to the pioneers, the illegal immigrants and She'erit HaPleita in the Diaspora, while in the 1949 Haggadah this text was replaced by a text concerning the ingathering of the exiles, the establishment of the State of Israel and the War of Independence. [1], 35, [1] leaves; [34] leaves, 26 cm. Good condition.
