Facsimile, "Worms Mahzor", elaborate manuscript from the 13th century. Austria-Switzerland-Jerusalem, 1986.
Large elaborate facsimile on thick parchment-like paper. Antique-style leather and metal binding, with clasps for closing. A numbered copy, from an edition of 300 copies.
The" Machzor", written in 1272, was used for hundreds of years in the synagogue of the Worms congregation until the destruction of the synagogue by the Nazis on Kristallnacht, on November 1938. The "Machzor" was saved by Worms' archivist, who concealed it in a cathedral. In 1957, the manuscript was transferred to The Israel National & University Library in Jerusalem.
[224] leaves. Size of leaves: 39x31 cm. Very good condition. Includes volume of prefaces and two illustrated facsimile leaves from a similar manuscript from the same period, bound separately. Original wooden case for all items.
