Many approbations; opens with approbation of Rebbe Rabbi Avraham Yehoshua Heshel of Apta and Rabbi Yisrael son of Rabbi Levi Yitzchak of Berditchev.
Ownership signatures: “Meir Zvi” “Meir Hirsch of congregation of Chadzsh”; Rabbi “Naftali Hirsch Bleichroth” [disciple of Rabbi Akiva Eiger, among rabbis of Filehne near Poznan]. Signatures of Rabbi “Shlomo Zalman son of Rabbi Asher Lemel Av Beit Din of Gallin – presently resides in holy city of Jerusalem in Holy Land”, and additional signatures.
The Ga’on Rabbi Shlomo Zalman Levy Av Beit Din of Gallin (passed away in 1874), son of Kabbalist Ga’on Rabbi Asher Lemel Levy Av Beit Din of Gallin and Dayan in Jerusalem. (Eldest brother of Rabbi Nachum of Zhad’ky, passed away in 1851). His father-in-law was Rabbi Avraham Av Beit Din of Janow. In 1843 Rabbi Asher Lemel left the city Gallin on his way to Eretz Yisrael, and his eldest son, Rabbi Shlomo Zalman, was appointed to succeed him. Among disciples and Chassidim of Rabbi Yitzchak Meir of Gur. It is related that he asked his father, Rabbi Asher Lemel, whether he should join the Chassidim and his father’s response was that he only agrees on the condition that he be meticulous not to miss the prayer time. (“Meir Einei HaGolah”, completions and additions, comment on letter 2). His Chiddushei Torah were printed in book “Bayit La’Avot” (Chiddushim, Siman 6). Response addressed to him appears in Nefesh Chaya Responsa (Orach Chaim, Siman 39).
Two volumes: [4], 272, [2] leaves; 266; 10 leaves. 34.5 cm. Quality bluish paper, good condition, stains and wear, minor moth marks. Worn antique leather bindings.
