Likutey Kadmoniyot for the Karaites and their scriptures according to Hebrew and Arabic manuscripts by Simcha Pinsker. Vienna: Adalbert della Torre, 1860. Pinsker describes the history of Karaite Judaism, its development and scriptures. Pinsker claims that the source of the name "Karaites" is their belief in denying all oral laws and believing in the written bible only. Pinsker also writes about Karaite literature and poetry claiming that Karaite poetry served as a model for Jewish Middle-Ages poets such as Ibn Gvirol and Yehudah HaLevi. A list of Karaite scholars appears at the end of the book. Two title-covers and two title-pages, Hebrew and German. Bound in hard cover with two leaves about the author. [10], X, 134, [2], 228 pp, 20 cm. Good condition. Numerous moisture-marks.
