Five letters handwritten by the painter Avigdor Arikha, addressed to Peretz (Fritz) Leshem, Consul of Israel in London, whose apartment in Jerusalem was rented to Arikha. Jerusalem and Paris, 1951-1953.
Original woodcuts by Arikha have been printed on the upper part of two of the leaves, one in brown and the other in black. Arikha (1929-2010) was 22-24 years old while writing the letters and just at the beginning of his artistic career. In the letters, dealing in fact with the relations between a landlord and a tenant, Arikha also expresses some of the thoughts, contemplations and hopes of a young artist. Attached: a letter from Leshem, receipt and a note with rent calculations. Sizes and conditions vary.

A very impressive book, in album-format, about the artistic activity of the dancer and the painter Baruch Agadati, of the film making and dancing pioneers in Eretz Israel and a prominent figure in the cultural life in Tel-Aviv in the 1920s and 30s. Three essays appear in the book: "Harkod VeHarked" by Asher Barash; "Omanuto shel Baruch Agadati" by Yitzchak Katz; "Rikudav shel Baruch Agadati" by Menashe Rabinovitz (Rabina) as well as thirty two reproductions of good quality featuring photos of dancers, illustrations and sketches of dancers' figures. Printed on "excellent paper" in 100 copies, this copy is not numbered. Preceding the title-page appears a dedication handwritten by Agadati "for the friendly Prof. Schor, Tel-Aviv, 30.6.26. B. The booklet is attached to a fine book in a cloth binding, with sixteen plates featuring mushrooms, hand-painted by Ruth Koppel. This special edition was published in fifty numbered copies. The copy presented here is no. 2 and is signed by Koppel. Booklet 84 pp, 19 cm; book [17] leaves, 30 cm. Good condition. Foxing-marks, moisture-marks.
