Passover Haggadah. Artisan Works Coy. 745 [Solel Boneh], Mechanical & Electrical Coy. 544. Italy, 1945.
Non-traditional Haggadah. Handwritten and typewritten, duplicated in lithographic printing, with nice illustrations (illustration on the title page is signed "M.A."). On the last leaf are printed the names of the companies and an illustration of tools.
The Artisan Works Coy. R.E. 745, was established in the summer of 1942 and named "Solel Boneh Company" since it consisted of a group of volunteers who worked for "Solel Boneh". After serving in Egypt, in the Western Desert and in Tripoli and constructing camps, restoring bridges and installing water-lines, the company was sent in March 1944 to Italy and built three army camps in Naples. Following the Allies’ victory, the company was transferred to Milan and in early 1946 returned to the Middle East in preparation for the release of its members.
The Mechanical & Electrical Coy. 544 acted in Egypt and in the Western Desert where it operated the water supply system installed by the British. The company was split into small units scattered along hundreds of kilometers of the water pipe. Early in 1945 the company was transferred to southern Italy and was in charge of maintenance of electrical installations, water supply and hospitals. The company was dismantled in 1946. [1], 16, [1] leaf (not including the cover), 21.5x17 cm. Good condition. Stains, creases and minor tears to cover.
