The book was printed as a gift for Shlomo Zalman Schocken, on his sixtieth birthday. A printed dedication by Agnon opens the book: "I did not find a better gift than a collection of stories about books and authors". Printed in 120 numbered copies on paper of good quality in black and red letters, bound in a fine binding. This is copy no. 114. [4] leaves, 11- 116, [2] pp, 24 cm. Good condition. Tears to spine.

"These poems by R' Shlomo Ibn Gabirol…most of which have not been printed and are taken from an old poetry book…and I, Shlomo Zalman Schocken had the privilege of quarding the book and I printed the poems for my son Micha for his wedding day with…Shulamit…". Eight poems by Ibn Gabirol, printed by A.M. Haberman; printed in large letters, black and red, on greenish paper of good quality. Upper borders are untrimmed. Four short stories by the author, winner of the Israel Prize, Moshe Shamir. The book was published in a bibliophilic edition of 175 copies. This copy is one of the first five copies: attached are three metal-etchings by Menashe Kadishman, two large drawings by Kadishman (pencil and pastel, signed), drawn on the book's leaves. The book is bound in an elaborate leather binding, hand made by the binding artist Yehuda Miklaf. The book is numbered and signed by Shamir, Kadishman and Miklaf. 26 cm. Very good condition. In a cardboard case.
