Letter signed by “Rebbe Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneersohn” of Lubavitch. Brooklyn, 22nd of Kislev 1949.
A year prior to his death Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak began signing the letter “Yud” of his second name (Yitzchak) in Assyrian (square) writing, which was a mystical indication of his imminent death on 10th of Shvat (his son-in-law, Rebbe of Lubavitch explained this occurrence at length in the Farbrengen [Chabad gathering] of Shabbat Parashat Va’erah 1951 – See attached material). This letter was sent less than two months prior to his death, which clearly portrays his special signature with the squared letter “Yud”.
Rabbi Yosef Yitzchak Schneershon (1880-1950, Otzar HaRabbanim 8887), sixth Rebbe of Chabad-Lubavitch. Founder of Tomchei Temimim Yeshivot together with his father Rebbe Rabbi Shalom Ber. Was appointed Rebbe in 1920. Was incarcerated by the communist government in 1927, and afterwards arrived in Poland. In 1940 arrived in Brooklyn.
Official stationery. 21.5 cm. Very good condition. Folding marks.
