Black and white good quality photograph of the Austrian Post Office in Jerusalem. Vienna, early 20th century.
One of the first post offices in the Middle East. The office, near the Jaffa Gate, was inaugurated in 1858 sponsored by the Austro-Hungarian Empire and was closed by the Turks when World War I broke out. Signed on the reverse Lichtbildstelle, Wien, and numbered 1801. 29.5x23 cm, good condition.

Every photograph is pasted on a separate paper; all the photographs are described on a printed label pasted on the paper: Safed, Haifa, a house in Chulda, Kiryat Anavim, the Mekor Baruch neighborhood of Jerusalem, the train station in Kfar Baruch, school for young women in Nahalal, women workers' farm in the Borochov neighborhood, beehives in Ein Charod, grape harvest in Rishon LeZion, Wadi Fo'ara (Gedura River), Mrs. Mond planting a tree in the Balfour Forest, Mrs. Chancellor planting a tree in the Balfour Forest, Czechoslovakian Consul planting a tree in the Masrik Forest, Kish speaking at a planting festival in Masrik Forest, Ussishkin speaking at the house-warming celebration of the JNF House, stonemasons in Jerusalem, concert in Migdal David, etc. Average size 16x11 cm. Very good condition. Some album leaves are empty; several photographs are missing. Album 25.5 cm, tied with a lace. Good condition.

Impressive photographs of construction workers: excavation of stones, loading camels, preparing cement, and more. Amongst them: Photographs by "H. Brill" and a photograph documenting the construction of "Beit Elhanan Krosarsky" on 73 Allenby Street in Tel Aviv, designed by the architect Y.Z. Tabachnik (Tavori). One photograph is annotated on the reverse "Zrifin". All are divided on the back for use as a postcard. 9x14 cm. Good condition, varies. Stains, some have two cut corners.

Photo album. South Africa (?) and Eretz Israel, [mid 1930s]. Family photographs and personal photographs, probably of a member of the HaBonim movement in South Africa. The owner participated in the second Maccabia in Tel Aviv in 1935. The opening ceremony is depicted in one of the photographs. The album includes a postcard designed by Franz Kraus: "Second Maccabia", printed by Manir, Sendler and Bersson, Bnei Brak. Additional photographs feature youth movement members in Tel Aviv, during sports activities and trips around the country. Album 22x15 cm, good condition. Photographs in good condition, some are detached from album sheets. Total of 100 photographs.

The building was designed by Shani (Yehoshua) Steinbock, one of the founders of the Association of Engineers & Architects in Palestine. The photograph shows the building after its expansion in 1937. The photographerג€™s ink stamp appears on the reverse.
Kalter, (1903-1995) was one of the most important modern architecture photographers in Israel, who mainly worked for architects and various publications. He perpetuated the best of the International Style (Bauhaus) in Eretz Israel. 28x23.5 cm. Very good condition.

Bartlett (1887-1966), an American photographer, was director of the Near-East Relief Fund in Los Angeles. His work in the Middle East on behalf of this fund yielded the photograph collection presented here.
Unique photographs of the Samaria area, Nazareth, Jerusalem (the Dome of the Rock, Allenby Hotel, Jaffa Gate and other sites), Acre, Megiddo, Tiberias, Nablus, Ramallah, Bethlehem, Cairo, Beirut, Sidon and Cyprus. All photographs are signed on the reverse or ink-stamped by the photographer, annotated in pencil, some in great detail, in print. 25.5x20.2 cm. Fair-good to very good condition.
