8 Leaves with illustrations of very good quality, describing the horrors of the Holocaust. A dedication to the art and theatre critic Dr. Haim Gamzu, handwritten by Leah Grundig, appears on the first page.
Leah Grundig (1906-1977) - a painter born in Germany, member of the Communist party. Grundig was married to the German-Christian painter Hans Grundig. The couple were imprisoned in concentration camps as a result of their Communist affiliations. Leah succeeded in escaping and immigrated to Israel in 1940, with the assistance of Nahum Eitan (Itin). In 1949, during one of her visits to Germany, she met, by coincidence, her husband who survived the camps. Leah Grundig left Israel and Nahum Itin, and returned to Communist East-Germany, leaving behind her collection of paintings.
[4] pp, [17] picture-plates, 34.5X25 cm. Good condition. Foxing marks, mainly on first and last leaves. Damages at borders of cover and stains.
