Photographic archives of the sisters Charlotte (Lotta) Meyer (1911-1978) and Margaret (Gerda) Meyer (1913-1993), native German photographers from Haifa, who worked from 1934 to 1957. They specialized in portrait photography of famous people and in photography of industrial buildings and architectural themes. The Meyer sisters left Israel during the 1950s and their private archives weren’t preserved. The present archives, from the estate of their older brother Hans (Martin/Hanoch) Meyer, is a major source of information on the lives of the Meyer sisters, which cannot be found anywhere else.
The archives contain:
~ Nineteen letters from Charlotte, 1930-1973, sent from Germany before she moved to Israel, from Haifa and later from London; 8 letters from Gerda; two letters from both sisters.
~ Twenty-seven photographs taken by the Meyer sisters, including: Hanukkah ceremony photos at the Dagon Silo in Haifa, photos of important events and major political figures such as Moshe Sharet and Chaim Weizmann (celebrating the Technion’s Jubilee), portrait photos and more.
~ Ffifteen photos of the sisters (mainly of Charlotte), including pictures with their mother and father.
~ Thirty-two negatives of Gerda Meyer’s wedding with Meir (Marc) Shore.
~ Five documents containing biographical material on the Meyer family and the sisters.
Over 100 items in total, varying sizes and condition. A detailed description of the content of the archives will be provided upon request.

Show the factory buildings and various facilities and machines. In a thick album, with an engraved dedication tablet “In memory of the blessed activity of Dr. Karl (Haim) Landau z”l…”, 1950. 16.5x23.5cm photographs, 29.5x26.5cm album. Good condition.
~ Six black and white photographs taken at the opening ceremony of the cultural center named after Karl Landau at “Givat Nesher”, [May 1957] plus one additional photo. 12x17.5cm photographs, 19.5x28cm album. Fair-good condition.
~ Dr. Haim Karl Landau, the man behind the “Sollel Boneh” construction company, was appointed director of the “Nesher” factory in 1945.

Moshe Vorobeichic (Raviv, 1904-1995), 51 large photographs documenting the activity of the "HeChalutz" movement in Poland, [early 1930's]. Unsigned.
Black and white photographs of good technical and artistic quality typical of Vorobeichic, who undertook the visual documentation of the "HeChalutz" operations in Poland until he immigrated to Eretz Israel in 1934.
The collection includes photographs of the following "HeChalutz" kibbutzim: Grochow,Czenstochova, Vilnius, Sosnowiec, Bendzin, Lodz, Rovan, Lutsk, Gorodishche, Bialystok, Klosowo, Pinsk, Kovel and Gdynia. The photographs show a variety of activities, buildings, construction, carpentry and agriculture, laundry and sewing in workshops. Some of the photographs were printed in "Sefer HeChalutz – Anthology," edited by Moshe Basuk (Jerusalem 1939).
Fifty-one (51) photographs, 30x23cm, handwritten annotations on the margins, some of the photographs are connected to each other (as published). Good condition.

Including: the Maccabi ski department in Slonim; a group of Maccabi Slonim bicycle riders; the Maccabi Slonim football team. ~ Four photos of the 5th and 6th traditional JNF Fairs, which took place in Slonim on Purim 1934 and 1935, organized by women from the Wizo Association. Various fair booths appear on the photos.
