The letter is a recommendation to offer financial support to the grandson of Rabbi Yossef Chaim Zonenfeld z”l, Av Beit Din of the holy city of Jerusalem. He blesses those who will offer their support with abundance and protection from dangers and misfortunes.
The Holy Gaon Rabbi Yoel Teitelbaum (1887-1979) son of the Holy Gaon Rabbi Hananyah Yomtov Lipa, Av Bein Din Sighet, author of "Kedushat Yomtov", son of Rabbi Yekutiel Yehudah, Av Beit Din Sighet and author of "Yitav Lev" and offspring of Rabbi Moshe Teitelbaum, author of "Yismach Moshe".
Known from early age for his sharpness and genius, as well as his sanctity and purity. Following his marriage to the daughter of Admor Rabbi Avraham Hayim Horowitz, Rabbi of Polantsh, he moved to Satmar, where he taught Torah and Hassidism to a chosen group of disciples and Hassidim. Held position as Rabbi in Orshiva, Kroli (from 1925) and Satmar (from 1935). In all these places he was head of a large Yeshivah and a large flock of disciples. Was head of the extreme orthodox Jewry. During the Holocaust he was saved in Dr. Kastner's famous "Rescue Train", and through Bergen Belsen and Eretz Israel arrived in the US, where he founded the world's largest Hassidic dynasty. Was a strong opposer of Zionism and the establishment of the State of Israel. Gave many Halachic responses and from his writings dozens of books were published: "Va-Yoel Moshe", Divrei Moshe" responsa, the "Divrei Yoel" on the Torah and many others.

The letter is written, as was his wont, with a poetic pen, and signed: "…the words of one who loves you and sympathizes with you, Ze'ev Wolff Landau son of the Gaon Mahara".
Rabbi Ze'ev Wolff Landau (1807-1891, Encyclopedia of Chassidut, I, p. 516-518), son of Rabbi Avraham, Av Bet Din Czechenow. Of the illustrious disciples of the "Saraph" of Kotzk, who described him as the most gifted of the group, disciple of the author of "Chidushei HaRi"m" of Gur, in 1878 he began to lead a community in his hometown of Strykow, Kotzk style, firmly but with understanding.

Leaf with signed ownership inscription "…Moshe of Zalshin…". Kislev, 1820.
The Holy Rabbi Moshe of Zalshin, son of Rabbi Gershon (1789-1831, Encyclopedia of Chassidut, III, pp. 183-186), author of Sidur "Tikunei Shabat" (see item 80), "Mishpat Zedek" commentary on Tehilim (see item 270), and "Ge'ulat Yisrael" on Pesach Hagadah, printed in tens of editions.
In approbations to his books the writers mentions Rabbi Moshe's well known piety and righteousness". Rabbi Akiva Eiger described him as "Zadik" "An exalted scholar". Rabbi Ephraim Zalman Margaliot referred to him as "a pitifull holy rabbi". The Seer of Lublin mentioned his total devotion to G-d since the age of ten years.
There is disagreement concerning the fact whether the Holy Rabbi Moshe of Zalshin was a disciple of the Seer of Lublin (see attached material). His son, Rebbe Ya'akov Aharon of Zalshin Av-Beit-Din Aleksander, was a disciple of the Seer of Lublin and of Rabbi Bunim of Peshischa (see Encyclopedia of Chassidut, II, p. 162). Rabbi Yossef Gershon Av-Beit-Din Dewhart, his other son, served as Admor either (Encyclopedia of Chassidut, II, p. 140).

A letter written in the name of and by order of the Admor Rabbi Baruch of Vizhnitz. Kislev 1887.
A long letter about a problem regarding the money of a certain widow of one of his men in the city of Kolomea. The letter mentions the Gaon of Kolomea, and often the "Admor shlita" is mentioned, making it clear that the letter and its content was written "in the name of the Admor shlita" by his regular scribe.
At the top of the letter is the stamp of the Admor "Baruch son of the Rav the Tzaddik of Vizhnitz".
Rabbi Baruch Hager – the Imrei Baruch (1845-1892, Encyclopedia of Chassidut, Part 1, page 367), son of the Admor Rabbi Menachem Mendel, author of Tzemach Tzaddik, and son-in-law of Rabbi Aryeh Leib Shapira of Zhitomir. From 1885, he was crowned to succeed his father, a position he carried for only seven years [it is rare to find letters from that period]. New Year greetings on the occasion of our "first celebration in Zion" inauguration of his Beit Midrash in Haifa. "G-d willing this will herald the start to a happier era, bringing reprieve and solace to our suffering brethren the world over".
The second side of the page has a letter in Yiddish, handwritten and signed by his wife, the Rebbetzen Tzirel.
The holy Admor, Rabbi Baruch Hager of Seret-Vizhnitz (1895-Cheshvan 1963], Otzar HaRabbanim 4066), fourth son of the "Ahavat Yisrael" of Vizhnitz. Rebbe Yisrael Friedman of Chortkov (1854-1933, Otzar Ha-Rabanim 12025). Son of Rabbi David Moshe of Chortkov and son in law of Rabbi Avraham Ya'akov of Sadigura – holy sons of Rabbi Yisrael of Ruzhyn. One of the impor-tant Rebbes of Ruzhyn. A remarkable Chassidic leader. One of the founders of Aggudat Yisrael and president of Moetzet Gedoley Ha-Torah. Amongst thousands of followers of his were some foremost rabbis like Rabbi Shapira of Lublin, Maharam Arik and Gara"m Steinberg of Brody. His court in Chortkov, Galicia, was destroyed during World War I and he moved to Vienna. (See Kedem catalogue no. 8, item 489).

The Holy Rebbe Avraham Elimelech Perlov (1891-1943, Encyclopedia of Chassidut A, page 57),the most famous of the six sons of the Admor "Ha-Yenuka" Rabbi Yisrael of Stolin ("The Frankfurter"), who passed away in 1922 and was buried in Frankfurt. Most of his father's believers followed him and in order to prevent disagreements with his brother, Rabbi Moshe of Stolin, he moved to Karlin near Pinsk and established his own court there. He founded The Karlin Yeshivah in Luninets. Was murdered in the Holocaust along with all his offsprings.

The Ga'on Rabbi Binyamin Aryeh Weiss (1843-1913), author of Even Yekarah book of responsum, a leading rabbi in his generation. Disciple of "Shoel Umeshiv" and of Maharaya of Zidichov. Served as Rabbi of Tchernovitz since 1872.
