Two editions of sefer Sipurim Nora'im, wondrous stories about the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Mezeritch, the Baal HaTanya, the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch, the Tzemach Tzedek and other Chassidic leaders, by R. Yaakov Keidaner (author of Matzref HaAvodah).

Sipurim Nora'im is known to be based on credible and reliable sources, accurately relating the wonderous tales of the Baal Shem Tov, the Maggid of Mezeritch and Rebbes of Chabad. Stories about the Mitteler Rebbe were mostly witnessed by the author himself, and some were related to the author by the son of the Mitteler Rebbe, Rabbi Menachem Nachum of Nizhyn. Some of the stories about the wonders of the Baal Shem Tov and the Maggid of Mezeritch were related to the author by the Alter Rebbe himself.

The tale of the Alter Rebbe's imprisonment in Saint Petersburg, and his subsequent release, as well as the tales of the imprisonment and release of his son, Rabbi Dov Ber, the Mitteler Rebbe of Lubavitch, and his disciple, Rabbi Aharon of Strashelye, are related in leaves 38-41.

The life and work of the Alter Rebbe, with his printed portrait bound at the head of the volume.
The author, Rabbi Naftali Herz Ehrmann (1849-1918), head of the Beit Din in Baden (Switzerland), Trier and Lübeck (Germany), was a close associate of the Rebbe Rashab and his son, the Rebbe Rayatz of Lubavitch, and took part in their public activities. Rebbe Rashab praised Rabbi Ehrmann in the strongest possible terms, in a lengthy letter he wrote in 5661 as part of his battle against the "Hevra Mefitsei Haskalah" (Society for the Promotion of Culture among the Jews of Russia).
The book was translated into Yiddish by the educator, Rebbetzin Ettel Tzerna Hodakov (wife of Rabbi Chaim Mordechai Aizik Hodakov, secretary of the Rebbe Rayatz and the Lubavitcher Rebbe), printed by Kehot Press (Brooklyn, 1985).
